Marketing And Sales Payment Practices Report 2020

10 June 2021•By Alastair Campbell, Founder•Reports

Marketing & Sales Payment Performance: A Mixed Bag in 2020

The Numbers

  • Companies analysed: 73
  • Average PaymentCheck Score: 68.2/100
  • UK average: 50.0/100 (Marketing And Sales is 18.2 points above)
  • West Midlands: 79.8 avg (1 companies)
  • London: 70.4 avg (63 companies)
  • South East: 60.0 avg (3 companies)
  • South West: 59.0 avg (1 companies)
  • East Midlands: 52.0 avg (1 companies)

What Stands Out

The Marketing and Sales sector significantly outperforms the UK average in payment practices. However, the vast range between the top and bottom performers (100/100 vs 10.1/100) highlights the inconsistency across the sector, and that some companies' payment practices are truly dire. The West Midlands figure should be taken with a huge pinch of salt, as it only reflects one company.

Best Payers

  1. HELLO ELEPHANT LTD - 100/100
  2. CHASEDESIGN WORLDWIDE LIMITED - 100/100
  3. MULLENLOWE PROFERO LIMITED - 100/100
  4. IPG HOLDINGS (UK) LIMITED - 100/100
  5. HUGE UK LIMITED - 99.6/100

Worst Payers

  1. KINESSO LIMITED - 10.1/100
  2. PUBLICIS MEDIA EXCHANGE LIMITED - 14.4/100
  3. OMNICOM MEDIA GROUP UK LIMITED - 26.3/100
  4. PARAGON CUSTOMER COMMUNICATIONS INTERNATIONAL LIMITED - 30/100
  5. KINETIC WORLDWIDE LIMITED - 32.3/100

Regional Patterns

London, with 63 companies analysed, shows an average of 70.4/100, which is a strong showing, but nowhere near the perfect scores achieved by the top 5 payers. The outlying regions need more data to paint a reliable picture: the South East is weaker than the capital at 60.0, but the West Midlands is skewed upwards at 79.8 due to the extremely small sample size of just one company.

If you're experiencing late payments, use this late payment calculator to understand the potential financial impact.

Despite the sector's average of 68.2/100 being well above the UK's 50.0/100, the bottom five companies, including KINESSO LIMITED at a dismal 10.1/100, drag the average down and signal the presence of serious payment issues within the Marketing and Sales sector.
