Human Resources Payment Practices Report 2024

22 May 2025•By Alastair Campbell, Founder•Reports

UK HR Sector Payment Practices Tower Above National Average, But Wide Discrepancies Persist

The Numbers

  • Companies analysed: 108
  • Average PaymentCheck Score: 80.4/100
  • UK average across all sectors: 50.0/100
  • HR sector average above UK average: 30.4 points
  • Top PaymentCheck Score: 100/100 (3 companies)
  • Bottom PaymentCheck Score: 12.1/100
  • South West average: 93.6/100 (6 companies)
  • North East average: 86.4/100 (2 companies)

What Stands Out

The HR sector’s average PaymentCheck score is significantly higher than the UK average, suggesting a commitment to prompt payment within the industry – at least on paper. However, the disparity between the top and bottom payers is frankly alarming, with some firms lagging far behind. The small sample size for regional data means it's indicative, not definitive.

Best Payers

  1. GATTACA PLC - 100/100
  2. PAYSTREAM MY MAX 3 LIMITED - 100/100
  3. ID MEDICAL GROUP LIMITED - 100/100
  4. SANDERSON RECRUITMENT PLC - 99.6/100
  5. MORSON PROJECTS LIMITED - 98.8/100

Worst Payers

  1. PTS GROUP LIMITED - 12.1/100
  2. MEDACS HEALTHCARE LIMITED - 28.86/100
  3. GSF CAR PARTS LIMITED - 30.2/100
  4. BLUE ARROW LTD. - 31.38/100
  5. ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT SERVICES LIMITED - 36/100

Regional Patterns

The South West emerges as the strongest-performing region with an average of 93.6, although this is based on only six companies, making it hard to generalise. The North East, while respectable at 86.4, is based on a mere two companies, limiting the insight.

Late payments can impact cash flow; use this late payment calculator to see potential costs.

Despite an impressive sector average of 80.4, the 87.9 point difference between the best and worst performers underscores the urgent need for improved payment practices across the board.
