Education Payment Practices Report 2020

13 March 2021•By Alastair Campbell, Founder•Reports

UK Education Sector Payments Significantly Outperform National Average in 2020

The Numbers

  • Analysis of 220 companies in the UK Education sector.
  • Average PaymentCheck Score: 77.2/100.
  • UK average PaymentCheck Score: 50.0/100.
  • Difference between Education sector and UK average: 27.2 points.
  • Top score: 100/100 (THE FIRST FEDERATION TRUST).
  • Lowest score: 3.2/100 (THE BROOKWOOD PARTNERSHIP LIMITED).

What Stands Out

The Education sector demonstrably outperforms the UK average in payment practices, a positive signal for suppliers. However, there's a massive disparity in performance, with some organizations achieving near-perfect scores while others lag far behind, indicating inconsistencies in financial management across the sector.

Best Payers

  1. THE FIRST FEDERATION TRUST - 100/100
  2. JAMES MONTGOMERY ACADEMY TRUST - 99.4/100
  3. THE GORSE ACADEMIES TRUST - 99.4/100
  4. TRANSFORM TRUST - 99.33/100
  5. FARINGDON ACADEMY OF SCHOOLS - 99.1/100

Worst Payers

  1. THE BROOKWOOD PARTNERSHIP LIMITED - 3.2/100
  2. OCS SECURITY LIMITED - 19.9/100
  3. ERIKS INDUSTRIAL SERVICES LIMITED - 23.6/100
  4. ISS MEDICLEAN LIMITED - 34.9/100
  5. ARCO LIMITED - 36.9/100

Regional Patterns

Regional data is pretty thin on the ground. With only one company in Wales and one "unknown" region, averages of 85.9 and 92.2 respectively aren't particularly meaningful. South East (78.6 average across 53 companies) and Yorkshire and The Humber (78.1 average across 26 companies) are more statistically relevant. However, at 81.3, the North West (12 companies) doesn't offer a dramatically better picture either.

If you're dealing with late payments, remember you can calculate interest due on late invoices with this late payment calculator.

Despite outperforming the national average by 27.2 points, the wide spread in the Education sector, ranging from 3.2 to 100, exposes significant inconsistency.
