Care Services Payment Practices Report 2024

7 January 2025•By Alastair Campbell, Founder•Reports

UK Care Services Payment Performance: Surprisingly Strong, but Stark Divides Remain

The Numbers

  • Companies analysed: 126
  • Average PaymentCheck Score: 77.2/100
  • UK average: 50.0/100
  • Care Services average is 27.2 points above the UK average
  • Wales average: 90.3 (1 company)
  • North West average: 86.0 (9 companies)
  • Yorkshire and The Humber average: 84.3 (9 companies)
  • North East average: 83.2 (4 companies)
  • Unknown average: 80.7 (7 companies)

What Stands Out

The Care Services sector significantly outperforms the UK average in payment performance, suggesting a greater commitment to timely payments than many other industries. However, the data also reveals a wide disparity within the sector, as while the average score is good, there is a significant range between the highest and lowest payers.

Best Payers

  1. TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN SUNDERLAND LIMITED - 99.4/100
  2. BLIND VETERANS UK - 98.4/100
  3. LEARNING PARTNERS ACADEMY TRUST - 97.97/100
  4. GLF SCHOOLS - 97.67/100
  5. SUNDERLAND CARE AND SUPPORT LIMITED - 97.5/100

Worst Payers

  1. MEARS GROUP PLC - 32.2/100
  2. LLOYDS CLINICAL LIMITED - 34.01/100
  3. TJX UK - 36.5/100
  4. SOMERSET CARE LIMITED - 40.3/100
  5. FRESENIUS MEDICAL CARE (UK) LIMITED - 40.5/100

Regional Patterns

Regional payment averages are somewhat skewed by small sample sizes. Wales has the highest average at 90.3, but this is based on data from only one company. The North West (86.0), Yorkshire and The Humber (84.3), and the North East (83.2) all indicate relatively good payment practices compared to the UK average, but with only 4-9 companies represented, it's hard to draw broad conclusions. late payment calculator

Care Services companies outperform the national average, but with Mears Group PLC scoring a dismal 32.2, it is clear there's a long way to go until consistently fair payment practices are seen across the entire sector.
