Hardware Payment Practices Report 2022

15 April 2023•By Alastair Campbell, Founder•Reports

UK Hardware Sector Leads the Way in Prompt Payments, But Some Laggards Drag Down the Average

The Numbers

  • Companies Analysed: 38
  • Average PaymentCheck Score: 71.3/100
  • UK Average: 50.0/100 (Hardware is 21.3 points above)
  • Top Payer: AICO - 95.5/100
  • Bottom Payer: LEVITON MANUFACTURING UK LIMITED - 30.63/100

What Stands Out

The hardware sector demonstrably outperforms the UK average in payment practices, achieving a PaymentCheck score over 20 points higher. However, the large spread between the best and worst payers—a staggering 64.87 points between AICO and Leviton—reveals significant inconsistency within the industry. With companies like LEVITON MANUFACTURING UK LIMITED lagging so far behind, it's clear not everyone prioritises on-time payments.

Best Payers

  1. AICO - 95.5/100
  2. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS LIMITED - 93.5/100
  3. AMADEUS IT SERVICES UK LIMITED - 93.43/100
  4. INTEL CORPORATION (UK) LIMITED - 92.7/100
  5. AIRWAVE SOLUTIONS LIMITED - 91.7/100

Worst Payers

  1. LEVITON MANUFACTURING UK LIMITED - 30.63/100
  2. WESTON AEROSPACE LIMITED - 34.35/100
  3. QUALCOMM TECHNOLOGIES INTERNATIONAL, LTD. - 35.43/100
  4. WESCO ANIXTER UK LIMITED - 41.75/100
  5. HP INC UK LIMITED - 44.38/100

Regional Patterns

Regional data is limited, however it suggests the West Midlands (95.5) has the best payment practices in the sector, although that's based on a sample size of just one company. North West (86.4 avg) and East Midlands (86.0 avg) also show good results, with samples sizes of just 2 and 1 company, respectively.

The UK hardware sector, while significantly better than the national average (71.3 vs 50.0), has considerable room for improvement as some companies’ PaymentCheck scores, such as LEVITON MANUFACTURING UK LIMITED's 30.63, demonstrate troubling late payment behaviour.
