Company Review
Trend Analysis
JOHNSON MATTHEY PLC exhibits a consistent trend of extended payment cycles, with an average payment time of 72 days. Only 17% of payments are made within 30 days, while a significant 38% consistently extend beyond 60 days. This trajectory suggests suppliers should anticipate considerably longer payment periods.
Volatility Analysis
The high percentage of late payments, at 39%, indicates significant unreliability and unpredictability in JOHNSON MATTHEY PLC's payment practices. While 45% pay between 31-60 days, the substantial 38% extending beyond 60 days introduces a material risk for suppliers relying on consistent payment schedules. This wide spread and frequent lateness demonstrate a notable lack of predictable promptness.
Summary Analysis
Suppliers should approach JOHNSON MATTHEY PLC with caution, as the overall payment profile indicates high risk due to significant delays and unreliability. Key decision factors must include factoring in the 72-day average payment time and the 39% late payment rate into financial planning. To mitigate risk, suppliers should consider negotiating upfront deposits, establishing more stringent payment terms, or exploring invoice financing options.

The date of receipt of supplier invoices is not recorded. Reported statistics are calculated from the date of invoice. Supplier receipts of payment dates are unknown. For reporting purposes, receipts of payment dates are estimates. Within our procurement programme, our intention is to introduce best practices and optimise to a suite of standard payment terms across the business.

Dispute Resolution Process
Payment disputes are typically initially referred to the finance function, who will try to resolve them by agreement through discussion with the supplier. If resolution cannot be reached within a reasonable period, or technical in nature, the matter will typically be escalated to the procurement function, who will try to reach resolution by agreement through further discussion with the supplier. As necessary, appropriate further dispute resolution mechanisms provided for in the contract will be used (i.e. reference to mediation, arbitration or litigation).
