East of England Payment Practices Report 2024

8 April 2025•By Alastair Campbell, Founder•Reports

East of England Firms Outpace UK in Payment Performance, but Stark Disparities Persist

The Numbers

  • 408 companies analysed in East of England
  • Average PaymentCheck Score: 67.6/100
  • UK Average PaymentCheck Score: 50.0/100
  • East of England average is 17.6 points above the UK average
  • Top PaymentCheck Score: 100/100 (multiple companies)
  • Lowest PaymentCheck Score: 19.3/100

What Stands Out

East of England significantly outperforms the UK average in payment scores. However, the wide range between the best and worst payers indicates considerable inconsistency in payment practices across the region.

Best Payers

These companies demonstrate exemplary payment habits, all achieving perfect scores:

  1. HILTON UK MANAGE LIMITED - 100/100
  2. GTC PIPELINES LIMITED - 100/100
  3. GLAXOSMITHKLINE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (NO.2) LIMITED - 100/100
  4. HILTON WORLDWIDE MANAGE LIMITED - 100/100
  5. INDEPENDENT PIPELINES LIMITED - 100/100

The presence of multiple Hilton entities at the top suggests a strong corporate policy of timely payments within that organization. Pipeline firms also stand out with two listings.

Worst Payers

These companies have the lowest PaymentCheck scores, signalling potential payment issues for their suppliers:

  1. NAPP PHARMACEUTICAL GROUP LIMITED - 19.3/100
  2. STAPLETON'S (TYRE SERVICES) LIMITED - 20.8/100
  3. XAARJET LIMITED - 22.17/100
  4. MUNDIBIOPHARMA LIMITED - 23.1/100
  5. FOX'S BURTON'S COMPANIES (FBC) UK LIMITED - 23.8/100

NAPP Pharmaceutical Group's score of 19.3/100 is particularly concerning, being far below the regional average.

Sector Breakdown

The sector breakdown reveals some interesting insights:

  • Digital Entertainment: 90.0 avg (4 companies)
  • Transportation Infrastructure: 89.0 avg (1 companies)
  • Education: 87.5 avg (15 companies)
  • Media And Publishing: 86.8 avg (1 companies)
  • Fashion: 84.6 avg (1 companies)

The Digital Entertainment sector tops the list with an average of 90.0, although it's based on a small sample size of only four companies. Education also performs strongly with an average score of 87.5 across 15 companies, suggesting better payment practices within that sector compared to others in the region. The low company sample size in a few of these categories means these sector insights need to be viewed tentatively.

If you're experiencing late payments, use this late payment calculator to understand the interest you may be entitled to.

Takeaway: While the East of England boasts a 67.6/100 average PaymentCheck Score, significantly exceeding the UK's 50.0/100, the bottom five companies highlight that some suppliers are experiencing substantially worse payment practices than others in the region.
