The data indicates a highly efficient payment culture, characterised by prompt settlement and low credit risk. The central tendency metrics are particularly favourable; the average payment time stands at 23.2 days, whilst the median is slightly lower at 22 days. This close alignment between the mean and median, coupled with a standard deviation of 12.9 days, suggests a stable and predictable payment environment where outliers have minimal impact on the overall aggregate performance. Suppliers trading with this sector can largely expect invoices to be settled well within standard 30-day terms.

A detailed examination of the distribution reveals that the vast majority of companies organise their accounts payable processes effectively. Specifically, 77.6% of the companies analysed settle their debts within the ‘Fast’ bracket of 0-30 days. The quartile analysis further reinforces this view of efficiency; the 25th percentile sits at a remarkably low 14 days, and even the 75th percentile (29 days) remains under the standard 30-day threshold. Consequently, the interquartile range is a tight 15 days, indicating that payment speed is consistent across the majority of the sample. It is evident that liquidity is not a primary concern for the bulk of these enterprises, as 25 distinct companies—nearly half the sample—are top performers paying in under 20 days.

However, whilst the general trend is positive, one must realise that a minority of businesses display slower payment habits. Although zero companies fell into the ‘Critical’ category of 90+ days, there remains a segment of the market where cash flow may be tighter. The data highlights that 19.1% of payments are classified as late, and 5.6% of invoices are settled after 60 days. The distribution tail shows two companies in the 61-90 day bracket, with the slowest payer recorded at 70 days. While this does not signal systemic failure, it suggests that suppliers should still conduct due diligence when engaging with new partners in the sector to avoid the minority of slow payers.

Geographically, the sector’s activity is heavily centred in the South of England, with London (27 companies) and the South East (10 companies) accounting for the lion's share of the sample. This regional concentration may influence the payment culture, reflecting the capital's generally faster-paced business environment. In conclusion, the sector demonstrates strong financial health with an 80.1% rate of payments made within 30 days. For suppliers and creditors, the risk profile is low, provided they monitor the small percentage of entities that drift beyond the 60-day mark.
